This is a Mercedes-AMG GT-R Roadster. It is a grand tourer by German Automobile manufacturer Mercedes-AMG GmbH. It was unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show as the GT and the GT-R was introduced in 2016 as the high performance variant of the GT and was developed under the assistance of their Formula-1 driver Lewis Hamilton. It is the second car by AMG after the SLS. It is assembled at Sindelfingen, Germany where the Mercedes-Benz Plant is located. This roadster version was unveiled in 2019 and has a limited production run of 750units. Currently a GT-R version is used as the Safety Car in Formula-1 for the 2020 season.
The exterior is designed by Robert Lešnik, Gabriel Nemeth, Huey Lee and Mark Fetherston. It's exterior design was kept similar to the SLS AMG like the wide wheel arches, lower bodywork, etc.. Unlike SLS AMG it does not have the iconic gullwing doors. The vehicle structure is 93% made of magnesium. The vehicle has a long bonnet and slim windscreen. The car has a manual adjusting rear wing. The front grille has vertical slats which the standard GT does not have. It also has some new parts also, i.e., front intakes, front and rear diffusers. Many of the GT-R changes came along in the GT in 2017 facelift. It is similar to the GT3 race-car.
The interior of the car was designed by Jan Kaul. As you enter the car you see an aluminium door sill which says "AMG". The interior of this car focuses on weight reduction as well as comfort. The car is equipped with a digital guage cluster and a touch screen infotainement system. Many of the buttons have been replaced with touch sensitive screen/buttons. Over the standard GT, the GT-R loses auto dimming interior lights and goes to basic 4-speaker system, though it can be upgraded to get back some of these features. The seats inside are race-bucket seats which holds you around corners. The steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara® and has many new features like touch sensor to control the screens, volume wheels, mode selector, etc.. The trunk space in this car is pretty reasonable and it can accommodate a medium-sized suitcase.
The Mercedes AMG GT-R Roadster is powered by a 4L V8 bi-turbo engine producing 577HP at 6250rpm and 700Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque at 5500rpm. It goes from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 3.6s. It has a top speed of 198mph (319km/h). It uses an AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission. The car has a manually adjustable coil-overs, an active underbody fairing along with 9-mode AMG Traction control system.
