Overview:

This is a Porsche 918 Spyder. It was a limited production plug-in hybrid supercar (hypercar) by the German Automobile Manufacturer Porsche AG. It was unveiled as a concept in 2010 at 80th Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS). After over 2000 declaration of interests, it was approved by the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG for development. The production version was unveiled in 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. An RSR variant was also unveiled in 2011 North American Motor Show but it never made it into production. It is the second plug-in hybrid by the manufacturer, the first being the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid.

Exterior:

The exterior was designed by Michael Mauer. The exhaust exit of the car is near the engine which reduces the weight as it is directly connected to engine. The car also has adjustable rear wing which can be controlled by a menu in infotainement system of the car. The car is fitted with centre locking wheels which color coded according to the side in which it is fitted, these are used race-cars. The car has single windshield wiper which is big enough to clean the whole windshield. This helps in weight reduction. Since 918 is a 'Spyder' it's roof is removable and can be stowed in the front trunk in two pieces. The cars also had a Weissach package which spec-ed the car into race spec and it reduced the weight by 40kg(88lbs).

Interior:

The interior is a Porsche styled interior which feels like a Porsche but is different. Starting with the steering wheel it has many of the car functions controls like a normal Porsche but it has extra buttons and dials like Manual mode to shift from paddles, a cruise control button and a 'Joker' button which can do anything you want it to do but the function should be set on the infotainement and it also has dial for different drive modes. Next to the steering wheel is the gear button/lever which is small and has 3 gears namely Neutral, Drive and Reverse and a Park button next to it. The centre control stack has touch sensitive buttons which are visible when the car is on. It also has dual screen infotainement system, first is a touch-screen infotainement system placed with the centre control stack and the other is placed beside the guage cluster and can be controlled by a touch sensitive button on the centre control stack. The guage cluster also has screens along with analog dials and it displays different functions and information if the car. The Weissach package has leather/cloth loops at the door instead of door handles.

Power and Output:

The 918 Spyder is powered with a 4.6L Naturally Aspirated V8 hybrid system with 2 electric motors mated with a 7-speed gearbox with Porsche's own PDK double-clutch system and produces 881HP(599 by combustion engine and 292 by electric motors) at 8700rpm and the car has two electric motors which 1280Nm(944lb-ft) combined torque at 6700rpm. The electric motors provided 282HP(127HP front, 154HP rear). It had a top speed of 345km/h(214mph) and went from 0-100km/h(0-62mph) in 2.6s. It also had a Nürburgring lap time of 6:57 on the 20.6 km (12.8 mi) road course, reducing the previous record by 14 seconds, and making it the first series production street-legal car to break the 7-minute barrier.
