This is a 2005 Ford GT. It was a limited production 2-seater rear mid-engined RWD sports car manufactured by American Automobile Manufacturer Ford Motor Company and it was limited to only 4038 units. It was built as the company's centenary in 2003 and a homage to the 4-time Le Mans winner GT40 which won the Le Mans from 1966-1969. It was unveiled at the 2002 American International Motor Show as GT40 but the name was later changed to GT due to failure in later negotiations as the name GT40 belonged to Ohio based Safir GT40 Spares and Ford licensed the use of GT40 name on-stage but later changed to GT. The GT was designed by Camilo Pardo who worked under the guidance of J Mays and Carroll Shelby. Nowadays a used Ford GT costs around $449,000, but when it was new it had a MSRP around $149,000.
This car was designed to resemble the GT40 racecar. The doors are also inspired by the GT40 racecar as it opens along with a part of the roof. The front hood is a front opening section meaning it opens forward, and the rear engine bay is rear opening meaning it opens backwards. As this car was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the company, the left headlight cluster was designed to read "100". Every design and curves on this car helps in the performance. Other than that there's nothing much about the exterior except the fact that it looks beautiful.
The interior is similar to a racecar. The shift lever is made of aluminium which can be switched easily, as shown by Jeremy Clarkson of 'Top Gear' by a finger. The has seats inspired by GT40 racecar, it has holes in it for weight reduction, grip and ventilation. The interior also has some parts from a regular Ford vehicle from that era, example the headlight and wiper stalks. But at the same time some interior pieces are unique to Ford GT, for example the hazard light, dimmer switch, etc., which are in the centre control stack are flip switches. It is not very practical in-terms of interior storage as it has a storage pocket behind the seats which can barely fit a water bottle. The guage cluster is fully analogue and it has all information required for the car. To reduce the use of plastic in the interior, the GT has many aluminium pieces in the interior.
The Ford GT was powered by a 5.4L Ford Modular Supercharged V8 which produces 550HP at 6500rpm and 678Nm(500 lb-ft) of torque at 4500rpm. The same engine was used in different Ford models like the SVT Lightning Pickup Truck. It uses a Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission with a helical limited-split differential. It had a top speed of 205mph(330km/h) and went from 0-62mph(0-100km/h) in 3.3s. The car uses a 4-piston aluminium Brembo caliper with cross-drilled and vented rotors at all 4 corners. It had BBS one-piece alloy wheels with 18inch front and 19inch rear.
