This is a McLaren P1. It is a limited production plug-in-hybrid sports car manufactured by British automobile manufacturer McLaren Automotive. It made it's debut in 2012 Paris Motor Show. Only 325 units were produced, all sold out by November 2013. It was belived to be the successor to the McLaren F1 but later it was confirmed that the Speedtail was the successor. It's main competitors were the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918. They were also raced in Silverstone Circuit and all of them finished with half a second gap between them, P1 at 58.24s, LaFerrari at 58.58s, and the 918 at 58.46s.
The body is made up of carbon-fibre monocoque for structural rigidity and to save weight, and the roof is made up of safety cage concept called the MonoCage, which is developed of the monocell and the concept was first used in the MP4-12C and later on in the upcoming models. It's design not only looked beautiful but was also aerodynamically functional as it got the 0-62mph time to 2.8s. It also features Pirelli P-Zero Corsa calipers and Akebono brake pads made specially for the P1.
A person enters a P1 using it's typical Dihedral Doors, and goes over wide door sill and sits on the deep bucket seat fixed at an angle of 28°, they are ultra-thin and each seat weighs only 10.5kg, and are designed in such a way that it is comfortable on long journeys and at the same time weighs less. The interior is filled with carbon fibre and Alcantara with most of the controls driver focused. It also features a digital guage cluster and an infotainment system with satellite navigation and mobile connectivity but it does not have a radio. The speakers are also good only when the car is stationary but when being driven, due to road noise it's quality degrades and hearing it gets irritating.
The P1 is a Rear-Wheel-Drive mid engined hypercar powered by a 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 and a 4.7kWh lithium-ion-battery producing 903HP (727HP by it's combustion engine and 177HP by it's electric motor) and 980Nm of torque (720Nm by combustion engine and 260Nm by it's electric motor). The car is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission developed by Graziano Transmissioni. The maximum speed attained is 217mph. It goes from 0-60mph in 2.8s. It's electric range is 19 miles and petrol range is 17mpg. The P1 has Formula 1 derived features such as Instant Power Assist System (IPAS), which gives an instant boost in acceleration via the electric motor, a Drag Reduction System (DRS) which operates the car's rear wings, thereby increasing car's straight line speed, and a KERS. Both these features are operated via two buttons on the steering wheel.
