This is a Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series. It is the performance version of SL65 AMG. It was unveiled in 2008 in Montery and produced from 2008-2011. It had a top speed of 200mph (322km/h) and went from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 3.8s. It was 250kg (550lb) lighter than the standard SL65 AMG due to the usage of Carbon Fibre Composite parts (CRPF) and replaced the foldable roof with a fixed one. Not only did it reduce the weight but also created extra room for retractable rear spoiler. The turbo was 12% larger than the one used in standard SL65 AMG and wastegate duct was optimised to permit the air through it's engine bay.
The regular SL65 was given a facelift in 2008. The SL recieved a new front end reflecting Mercedes' new design philosophy, with a pair of long powerdomes on the bonnet and a new single bar grille. It had a fixed roof and carbon fibre bits on the body for weight saving. It also featured a retractable rear spoiler. The Black Series has a front axle width 97mm wider and rear axle 58mm wider than the standard SL65. Other changes include rear aprons with rear diffuser fins. It has 19x9.5in front and 20x11.5in rear AMG light-alloy wheels with Dunlop Sport Maxx (365/35R19 front and 265/30R20 rear), 6-piston front calipers with 390x36mm front discs and 4-piston rear calipers with 360x26mm rear discs.
As you enter a SL65 AMG Black Series, you are greeted by a door sill saying AMG. It also has an analogue guage cluster with pixelated screen with limited functions due to time it was launched, it is somewhat unique to the Black Series as it's tachometer is all white and it says Biturbo which is not on any other models. It also has an infotainement system which is pretty basic given the time it came out and it only features Navigation controls, bluetooth call connectivity audio system and video system. The seats are power operated and has massaging functions like pulse, plus and minus, etc.. It has printed text on the gear shift knob which says the model number of the car as it was a limited production version. It also has M1/M2 button near the shift knob (M1 tightens up the shift in manual mode and M2 tightens it up more). The car does not have rear seats for weight reduction so it can also be used as a storage location to store extra items.
It is powered by a 6.0L Biturbo V12 which produced a total of 660HP at 5400RPM and 1000Nm of torque at 2200-4200RPM. It also includes AMG Speedshift MCT 7-Speed sports transmission, which included 'C' (Comfort),'S' (Sport), 'S+'(Sport+) and 'M' (Manual) modes, AMG DRIVE UNIT, Race Start Launch Control. The engine was built by AMG in Affalterbach, Germany. Mercedes-Benz claimed it's 0-60mph time to be 4.2s, but Car and Driver achieved 0-60mph time from standstill position to be 3.6s, 0-100mph in 7.5s and quarter-mile time of 11.6s at 123mph
